"Umberg sues to cut Senate foe Correa from ballot"

From the Orange County Register:

"Tom Umberg has sued to have state Senate opponent Lou Correa removed from the June ballot. The suit, scheduled to be heard March 28 in Sacramento, claims that Correa submitted more than the allowable 60 nominating signatures in order to reach the 40 valid ones required.

"You have a desperate act by a desperate man," Correa said. "I turned in enough to qualify. I've done this enough before that I know how to do it."

Umberg, an assemblyman, and Correa, a county supervisor and former assemblyman, are vying for the Democratic nomination to replace termed-out state Sen. Joe Dunn, D-Santa Ana."
