Oral argument scheduled in Proposition 77 case

The California Supreme Court has scheduled oral argument in the Proposition 77 redistricting case for December 7, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. in Los Angeles. In light of the measure's defeat yesterday, it will be interesting to see whether the Court's questioning focuses on the issue of whether the matter is now moot. In this regard, the Court's order granting a hearing in the case included the following language: "After the election, we shall determine whether to retain jurisdiction in this matter and resolve the issues raised in the petition."
