"Federal officials investigate LA compliance with voting law"

"Federal officials visited polling places during elections in March and May to determine whether the city violated federal voting law by failing to provide ballots in languages other than English.

The visits were part of an ongoing investigation that has targeted several other Southern California cities. Last week, the U.S. Justice Department announced settlements with Azusa, Paramount and Rosemead after concluding they had broken the law by printing official ballots only in English."
